Woman’s Condom among top 50 inspiring solutions

The Woman’s Condom, developed by PATH, has been selected for the Women Deliver 'Top 50 Inspring Ideas & Solutions that deliver for Women'. The UAFC Joint Programme was also among the 125 nominated initiatives, but did not make the top 50. We are very pleased with the selection of the Woman’s Condom in the Top 50, as it recognizes the important contribution of female condoms towards the empowerment of women worldwide.

The female condom is a very effective, female-initiated and controlled dual prevention option, preventing both unintended pregnancies and STI infections, including HIV. It is available today and both UAFC and PATH work very hard to increase both access to and affordability of this tool for the millions of women whose need for family planning and prevention methods is still unmet.

The Woman’s Condom is designed to expand options for dual protection initiated by women. Women and their partners helped design the Woman’s Condom. Clinical studies in several countries confirmed that the condom is safe, acceptable, and easy to use, and that it performs well.

The Women Deliver 50 competition is sponsored by Women Deliver, a global advocacy organization with a mission to the improve health and well being for girls and women around the world. Each year in conjunction with International Women’s Day, March 8, Women Deliver celebrates the progress made on behalf of girls and women. UAFC and PATH will be present during Women Deliver 2013, where all 50 winners will be featured.

We would like to thank everybody for voting.
